Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the Flowbudd church management platform and services (the "Service"). This policy ensures that all users can safely and effectively use the Service while protecting the rights and security of Flowbudd, its users, and third parties.

By using the Service, you agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.

2. Permitted Uses

The Service is intended for lawful purposes, including:

  • Church, synagogue, mosque, temple, and religious organization management
  • Faith-based nonprofit operations and administration
  • Religious education and ministry activities
  • Charitable giving and donation management
  • Event planning and volunteer coordination
  • Member communication and engagement
  • Sermon delivery and media distribution

3. Prohibited Uses

3.1 Illegal Activities

You may NOT use the Service to:

  • Violate any local, state, national, or international law or regulation
  • Engage in or promote illegal activities
  • Facilitate money laundering, fraud, or financial crimes
  • Violate intellectual property rights, including copyright and trademark infringement
  • Engage in identity theft or impersonation

3.2 Harmful Content

You may NOT use the Service to transmit, store, or distribute:

  • Content that is defamatory, libelous, or invasive of privacy
  • Content that promotes violence, hatred, or discrimination based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability
  • Content that is obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit (excluding educational or clinical contexts)
  • Content that promotes self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
  • Content that exploits or harms minors
  • Malware, viruses, or malicious code

3.3 Abuse & Harassment

You may NOT use the Service to:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate individuals
  • Send unsolicited bulk messages (spam)
  • Engage in phishing or social engineering attacks
  • Impersonate others or create false identities
  • Violate the privacy or data protection rights of individuals

3.4 System Abuse

You may NOT:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other user accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks
  • Conduct denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without authorization
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Circumvent security measures or authentication mechanisms
  • Exceed rate limits or abuse API access

3.5 Commercial Misuse

You may NOT use the Service to:

  • Resell or sublicense the Service without authorization
  • Use the Service for commercial purposes unrelated to religious organizations (e.g., marketing agencies, non-religious businesses)
  • Extract or scrape data for competitive purposes
  • Develop competing products or services based on Flowbudd features

4. Content Guidelines

4.1 User-Generated Content

You are responsible for all content you upload, including:

  • Sermons, messages, and announcements
  • Member communications (emails, SMS)
  • Event descriptions and media
  • Custom forms and surveys

4.2 Content Moderation

Flowbudd reserves the right to review, monitor, and remove content that violates this AUP. We may (but are not obligated to) pre-screen, monitor, or review content.

4.3 Intellectual Property

You may NOT upload or distribute:

  • Copyrighted music, videos, or media without proper licensing
  • Trademarked logos or materials without permission
  • Content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights

If you receive a copyright or trademark complaint, you must respond promptly and remove infringing content.

5. Security Requirements

5.1 Account Security

You must:

  • Use strong, unique passwords
  • Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) when available
  • Keep login credentials confidential
  • Notify us immediately of unauthorized access
  • Log out of shared or public computers

5.2 Data Protection

You must:

  • Comply with applicable data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA)
  • Obtain necessary consents before uploading member data
  • Respect member privacy and confidentiality
  • Implement appropriate access controls within your organization
  • Report data breaches or security incidents promptly

6. Communication Guidelines

6.1 Email & SMS

When using Flowbudd's communication features, you must:

  • Comply with anti-spam laws (CAN-SPAM Act in the US, CASL in Canada)
  • Include accurate sender information
  • Provide clear opt-out/unsubscribe mechanisms
  • Honor opt-out requests promptly
  • Avoid misleading subject lines or content
  • Respect rate limits and sending quotas

6.2 Prohibited Communications

You may NOT send:

  • Unsolicited commercial messages to non-members
  • Deceptive or fraudulent messages
  • Messages containing malware or phishing links
  • Bulk messages to purchased or rented email lists

7. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of violations of this AUP, please report them immediately:

8. Enforcement

8.1 Investigation

Upon receiving a report or detecting suspicious activity, Flowbudd may investigate and review account usage, content, and logs.

8.2 Remedies

Depending on the severity of the violation, we may:

  • Warning: Issue a written warning and request corrective action
  • Temporary Suspension: Suspend account access for investigation or pending corrective action
  • Feature Restriction: Disable specific features (email, SMS, API access)
  • Account Termination: Permanently terminate account and delete data
  • Legal Action: Pursue civil or criminal remedies for serious violations
  • Law Enforcement Referral: Report illegal activities to authorities

8.3 No Refunds

If your account is suspended or terminated due to AUP violations, you are NOT entitled to refunds for unused subscription time.

9. Appeal Process

If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may appeal by contacting support@flowbudd.com within 14 days. Include:

  • Your account email and organization name
  • Explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect
  • Evidence supporting your appeal

We will review appeals within 7 business days and provide a written response.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
